I sometimes receive questions from our adult customers on whether their children can take Flora Source® Multi-Probiotic®. The answer is yes! Flora Source is great for children of all ages. Based on these suggested serving sizes, it may be easier to purchase our powder version of Flora Source. Or, you can open Flora Source capsules to measure out the quantities below.
Here are the doses we suggest for each age group:
• 1/8 teaspoon for children 4 and under
• 1/3 teaspoon for children ages 5-12
• Ages 13 and above, follow adult suggested use

Here are a few benchmarks for taking supplements that suggest you "take on an empty stomach:"
• An empty stomach means to take the supplement at least 30 minutes before a main meal to help support absorption of the nutrients in your supplement.*
• The "optimal" time to take a supplement varies from person to person. Begin at the 30 minute mark but listen to your body.
• Ask yourself a few questions as you experiment: How do I feel if I take my supplement in the morning versus the afternoon? How about first thing, after I wake up? It helps to be flexible at first to determine the "optimal" time for you.
Let me know if I can answer any of your questions!

Colostrum is a natural substance produced by mammals just before the first milk. Customers often ask for more information on our Colostrum supplements, available in capsule and powder form. What are the benefits of colostrum? What exactly is colostrum?
Here are some key points I like to share on our Meta Foods Colostrum products:*
• Colostrum contains over 90 known substances that support health – especially immune system and intestinal lining health.
• Colostrum does contain milk; it comes from a bovine source. Bovine colostrum is very similar to human colostrum, making it a good choice for supplemental colostrum.
• Colostrum is safe for adults and children and comes in an easy-mix powder form.

Why New Zealand Colostrum?
Our Meta Foods Colostrum is entirely sourced from New Zealand. There are some key benefits to New Zealand colostrum:
• New Zealand is considered one of the cleanest, greenest places on earth.
• No steroids, hormones, or antibiotics are used in New Zealand Colostrum herds. Herds are all range fed.
• New Zealand Colostrum is gathered within a day after calves’ colostrum needs are met to ensure purity.

Customers often ask me what makes Flora Source® Multi-Probiotic® different from other probiotic supplements on the market. Below are the top 5 reasons I recommend Flora Source:
• Flora Source contains 16 probiotic strains - one of the highest number of strains on the market
• Flora Source has high probiotic cell viability
• The probiotics in Flora Source are acid and bile resistant to make it through stomach acid and into the intestines where they will do their work
• The probiotics in Flora Source are matrix encapsulated instead of enteric coated. Enteric coating harms probiotic cells, but matrix encapsulating helps us to stabilize the product for shelf stability as well as a high cell viability
• Flora Source is shelf stable, making it a very convenient supplement for travel

Digestive health and digestive health supplements are getting a lot of attention lately, but many people still wonder about the difference between probiotics and digestive enzymes. Let's clear up some of the confusion:
• Probiotics are defined by the World Health Organization as "live microorganisms which, when administered in adequate amounts, confer a health benefit on the host." In easier terms, probiotics are beneficial bacteria that naturally exist in our bodies. Probiotic supplements support these natural bacteria colonies for digestive health.
• Digestive enzymes are found naturally in your digestive tract and saliva where they aid in the digestion of food. As we grow older, our bodies produce less digestive enzymes, which makes for less efficient digestion. Digestive enzyme supplements can help supplement a decrease in natural digestive enzymes and help with the digestion of food so it doesn't sit too long in the digestive tract and cause gas or bloating.

Friendly bacteria taken in a supplement like Flora Source® Multi-Probiotic® and other probiotic supplements grow in the small and large intestines for a certain length of time. However, they do not permanently colonize there. Many scientists theorize that our immune system up to about the age of two allows us to adopt additional friendly bacteria strains. A mature immune system does not permanently adopt new friendly bacteria.
If your friendly bacteria levels have been damaged from illness, medications, stress, diet or other causes and your digestive system is not maintaining a consistent level of good bacteria, a daily supplement can help. And, because probiotic strains do not colonize in the digesitve tract, it's important to keep taking a daily supplement for as long as it is beneficial.

Flora Sinus® Seasonal Support is taken as an oral health supplement to support nasal, sinus, and respiratory health. This supplement contains NAC, a powerful natural mucolytic that helps break up mucus in the sinuses and nasal cavity, plus probiotics.
The probiotics in Flora Sinus do not actually travel from the digestive system to the nasal sinuses, but instead support a distal immune response from the intestines. A distal immune response promotes immunity throughout the body, including in the nasal sinuses, supporting your health seasonally and daily.
